Frequently Asked Questions

Q How much does it cost to clean my ducts?

It depends on several factors:

  • The size of the house
  • The age of the house
  • The last time the duct work was cleaned
  • The number of air handlers in the house

Q How long does an electrostatic filter take to dry?

About 1 to 2 hours depending on climate. To speed up the process, lie the filter flat and shake it a few times to drain excess water. Buy 2 filters so one can dry and the other be put immediately in.

Q How long does it take to properly clean the ducts and furnace of a house?

A full day for a one or two air handler house.

Q When should I get my dryer vent cleaned?

Once a year. The dryer vent and dryer itself is cleaned. The dryer blower, lint trap, and around the burner are thoroughly cleaned which:

  • Help prevent dryer-related fires
  • Save on cost of drying clothes
  • Cuts down your energy bills

Q What is involved in a duct cleaning?

Several things are involved in a thorough duct cleaning.

  • All registers are removed
  • Cleaning and vacuuming all vents and air returns
  • The returns are cleaned all the way to the air handler
  • Blocking off all supply and return vents
  • Using negative air flow equipment, clean duct work with air whip or rotary brush using the compressor
  • Each vent is disinfected and anything left over in the duct work is sealed by fogging so it cannot contaminate the air supply
  • Clean and disinfect the furnace blower and cooling coils
  • Clean drip pan inside the air handler

Q Why is it important to have good quality air filters?

The air handler is kept cleaner and dust and debris is kept out of your air. After a while the cooling coil will grow mold. That is why it is important to professionally clean the cooling coil every 7 years.

Q How often should I get my ducts cleaned?

Every 5 to 7 years for the supply vents and once a year for the return vent. The return vent is cleaned and decontaminated. It is recommended to use a 94 gold furnace filter.

Q What if I am unable or do not want to change or clean the furnace filters?

The Duct Man of Nevada provides a filter cleaning service that once a month he will change or clean the furnace filter(s) and disinfect the return.
