Cleaning Your Furnace Filter

Washing electrostatic furnace filter with a hose Cleaning your electrostatic filter is easy. It only takes a few minutes to clear off the dirt and grime.

Every month follow these easy steps:

  • Remove the air filter
  • Flush with water in the opposite direction of the air flow arrow (on the side of the filter)
  • Rinse the other side
  • Spray with Zap cleaner or Formula 409 degreaser to remove stubborn stains on both sides of the filter
  • Rinse thoroughly to remove remaining dirt and degreaser
  • Drain excess water, let air dry, and reinstall filter

To alleviate washing and drying the air filter immediately, it is wise to buy two of them.
